Development of a potential study of Agri-PV for the Marburg-Biedenkopf district
Background
The technology of Agricultural Photovoltaics (Agri-PV) allows for simultaneous agricultural production and eco-friendly electricity generation. For the first time, the Agri-PV has been included in the funding programs of EEG 2023.
In 2022, the State Energy Agency of Hesse commissioned a potential study on photovoltaics in Hesse. According to the study it is worth to install the Agri-PV modules on 0.5% of all grassland and arable land in Hesse.
To accelerate the development of renewable energies, the Marburg-Biedenkopf district commissioned IZES gGmbH to conduct a viable potentials study for Agri-PV within the district.
The Marburg-Biedenkopf is located in Central Hesse. It covers an area of 1,263 km², of which approximately 43.9% is used for agriculture.
Project objective
The study aims to determine the actual achievable potential of Agri-PV within the district.
This involves identifying potential areas and visualizing them on a map. The study will also examine which types of multifunctional usage concepts and Agri-PV systems are feasible for the identified areas, and determine the limitations posed by existing spatial and regional planning.
Furthermore, the study will develop a guildline for promoting the use of Agri-PV on the potential areas, including necessary steps.
Project contents
The Project includes the following contents:
1)Kick-off meeting
2)Analysis and identification of potential areas
- Development of a criteria catalog
- Analysis of the network connection of potential sites
- Analysis of potential Agri-PV areas based on the criteria catalog
3)Creation of digital potential maps
4)Development of a usage concept
5)Development of a guideline for planning process
