DEMO – Digital Energy Twin für realtime multi data monitoring
The aim of the project is to create a scalable, energy types overlapping visualisation of energy flows for buildings and neighbourhoods in real time. The aim is to create a geolocated, spatial representation of utility units, buildings or associations grouped together into neighbourhoods as digital twins on a map, whose real-time energy data is balanced on a consolidated comparison level for energy managers, neighbourhood developers, building owners and users and visualised transparently in an intuitively understandable form.
This transparent comparability creates a non-discriminatory level that shows the current, cumulative energy consumption situation for each entity in real time. The idea that a spatial visualisation of real-time energy flows can be used not only for analysis and optimisation purposes, but also to achieve a change in user behaviour, should be taken into consideration.
The project further develops the concept of legally binding short-term consumption information so that actual and easily understandable consumption data are available at any time. This enables users to become more aware of their own energy consumption and creates incentives to apply energy-saving measures actively.
As part of the project, the Technical Innovations department is responsible for the project management and the creation of the measurement concept for the demonstration site. Another focus is the development of a follow-up project based on the ideas, results and experiences gained from the project.
The Environmental Psychology department is also conducting surveys with the target group of energy and building managers addressed in the project and provides environmental psychology and social science aspects for the design of the visualisation.
