Luxembourg Hydrogen Valley – Green hydrogen, public perception and social assessment

Luxembourg will begin to produce green hydrogen in Bascharage in 2026 as part of an EU project. The Luxembourg Hydrogen Valley (LuxHyVal), a project led by the University of Luxembourg, is a collaborative effort of 17 partners from seven countries (Luxembourg, Germany, Spain, France, Czech Republic, Ukraine, and Australia).

IZES gGmbH addresses the social acceptance of the hydrogen infrastructure in Luxembourg, working on the comprehensive impact assessment and public perception.

Different stakeholder groups along the hydrogen value chain will be approached. Their opinions, attitudes, expectations, and reluctance toward the project and green hydrogen are assessed via qualitative interviews and focus groups, surveys, and media analysis.

The results are directly integrated with the conception of knowledge transfer and communication strategies.
